Description (56) images, some with multiple prints and contracts, including portraits, parsonage and gravesite. Negatives were produced in-house (photo #37-56) from two scrapbooks located in archival collection (Irwin 96-9).

Thomas J. Irwin was born Feb 15, 1870 at Armagh, Ireland . In 1888 he came to America and spent one year in the Chicago. He then wen t to Wichita, Kansas, where he studied law at Wichita and Friends Universities. From Kansas he went to Ohio, attending the University of Cincinnati. In 1899 he graduated from Lane Theological Seminary. He came to Oklahoma Territory in 1899 and settled at Chandler. On August 3, 1901 Reverend Thomas J. Irwin came to Lawton. He was instrumental and took leadership in founding the First Presbyterian Church and the Beal Heights Presbyterian Church at Lawton. He brought the plans for the church from Ireland.

In March, 1913, Thomas married Amelia Herman in St. Louis, Missouri. Brother Irwin served for 44 years in the Ministry. In 1922, he retired from the Pastorate. His funeral took place on Dec 31, 1943 and he was buried at Highland Cemetery.
