FAMILY HISTORY:

Miss Collins joined the Lawton public school system in 1931, teaching at Emerson School for 10 years. In 1941, she became principal there, and held that position until 1961, when she opened Eisenhower elementary. She retired in 1964, and was honored by her students on May 13th. After retiring, Collins was involved with the home-bound teaching program, one of a series of special education programs offered through the Lawton Public school for students who had to miss more than six weeks of school because of illness or accident.
